JOB: WebJunction Community Associate

WebJunction Community Associate WebJunction is hiring immediately for a Community Associate, who will act as primary contact for all community-related content, programming, and interactive tools for WebJunction.org. The Community Associate will work directly with the WebJunction Community Manager to synchronize the community building goals of all WebJunction granted programs with those of the larger WebJunction community, and with WebJunction’s Community Partner Program. The major objective is to nurture and grow the WebJunction community and all related communities of interest. Responsibilities * Produce, coordinate, and or consult on (with staff, members and/or guests) all events, programs, discussions, and community or member content/features at WebJunction.org. * Consult with the Community and Program Managers and all Program Coordinators at WJ on the content and community tools that help build “communities of interest” at WJ; consult with each Program Coordinator about how best to build their specific community at WJ. * Advise the Community, Content, Program and Service Managers through solicited knowledge, information, and feedback about site content, functionality, and programs; regularly inform internal editorial, evaluation, program, and product teams of online community developments inside and outside of the WebJunction community network. * Manage community related fieldwork students, interns, or volunteers as ‘community distributed staff’ support for all of the above. Education, Skills, and Qualifications * Knowledge of virtual workspace and communications technologies required. * Working experience with online communities required. * Outstanding organizational and communications skills; detail-orientation and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. * Ability to work well with a wide variety of groups and individuals; experience managing community volunteers preferred. * Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure, but comfortable with self-directed working style. * Tech savvy, with strong interest in libraries; knowledge of technology and its role in libraries preferred. * Bachelor of Arts required; MLIS or equivalent preferred.
