Meeting Minutes 1/16/09

Members present:

Meeting:

Emily reminds members about how to tag CIC and CI related material through Twitter to be aggregated on this site and reviews upcoming local CIC-related events of interest.

Members discuss the Information of Social Innovation Project.

Review of last week's meeting, students decide to attempt to begin a dialogue with the School of Social Work to develop a Technology Tools workshop for the end of this term or beginning of next Fall 2009 term. Meico will be the contact to liase with Ashley Zwick of the Non Profit Resource Management Center. Emily will contact Lisa about what was initially established between the SSW and SI as well as Liz Blankenship with Social Computing at SI. 

Chrysta invites interested CI students to email her with interest in having lunch with potential new faculty hires: cmeadow@umich.edu

Discussion of local Ann Arbor community information issues with the possibility of being related to coursework group projects and/or CIC volunteer projects:

  • Scio Residents for Clean Water
  • City of Ann Arbor News 
  • Dexter Mills neighborhood organization scrip program
  • Local television station video system

 

Karen Kennedy discussed concept of creating a CIC contest building on the LC3 entrepreneurial model. This can be similar to the Web 2.0 Library project, building CIC relations with other specializations and communities. Discussion to continue.

Discussion of the "Day in the Life of..." panel. January 30th from 12-1 in West Hall 311. CIC students need to provide money for food and facilitation with questions. Informal meeting TBA next week for those interested in facilitating this event with Kathleen Ludewig.

Chrysta discusses the mechanisms for gaining funding from SISA and Rackham as well as a discussion of how to begin thinking about a CIC fundraiser if desired or necessary.

Kathleen volunteers to be the CIC signee in an official capacity as necessary. Emily will take notes at meetings.

Next meeting will be for those interested in helping Kathleen with the Alumni Panel; date, time, and location TBA.

Week after meeting will be the Alumni Panel.
