Operation Diversity - Diversity Mural
Here's an opportunity for our group to be part of an art project to increase communication about diversity. Let me know if you're interested in participating!
Dear UM community member,
We’d like to extend a heartfelt invitation for you to help us leave a mark on the University of Michigan Campus. Our group, Operation Diversity, hopes to unite students and faculty of differing backgrounds; to increase communication across ethnic, racial, socio-economic, gender, and religious backgrounds; and to present our campus as a tolerant, educated, and vibrant community. We aim to show that diversity is important – but to do so in an apolitical fashion. We intend to revel in our differences and similarities alike.
Our goal is to create a huge mural. This mural will be a block M filled with a rainbow of colors and composed of a plethora of materials. It is going to be hung permanently in the Fish Bowl located in Angell Hall. The mural is going to be divided into puzzle pieces – each piece corresponding to various groups on campus and we would love your groups’ participation. Your group would be given a puzzle piece and have the ability to decorate the piece anyway you decide. You can paint, glue, collage… the possibilities are infinite.
This project won’t take much of your time, and together, we can show just how beautiful diversity is here in Ann Arbor.
If interested, please reply back to operationdiversity@umich.edu with your group name as well as the contact information (email and cell phone) for your group no later than March 18th 2007.
Sincerely,
Operation Diversity
