Opportunities with the Journal of Community Informatics
We have had exploratory discussions with Ann Bishop (from the University of Illinois) about having a group of students from UM provide editorial support for the online publication of the Journal of Community Informatics. Here is how Ann envisioned our potential role:
I am writing to see what interest there is for working on such a project. This could be a great opportunity to get involved with the wider theoretical and practical aspects of the CI field, as well as an opportunity to work with CI professionals from other institutions.
This is all very preliminary at this point. If you might have any interest at all in this project, or are interested in learning more, please don't hesitate to contact me.

"What Mike (Gurstein) and I had discussed was finding a dedicated group of students with a strong interest in CI to take on the electronic production on an ongoing basis. The students and their institution would be prominently listed on the journal's website. There would be JoCI staffer somewhere in the world who would supervise and help lead your work, as needed.
The other piece of it would be an ongoing role in producing your own content for the journal, like an annual edited collection of student project reports, or an ongoing section in the journal to present student work abstracts and news."
