CIC Project - Community Consulting Club/UM Business School
www.bus.umich.edu/clubs/ccc
In the fall of 2004, CIC developed a relationship (thanks much to Tanuka Roy!) with the UM Business School's Community Consulting Club (CCC - www.bus.umich.edu/clubs/ccc). We spoke with the CCC Executive Board about doing a trial semester of including interested SI students in their community, nonprofit projects. They agreed that such collaboration between MBA and MSI students could yield some great outcomes, so they've invited us to join them in this semester's projects! See the announcement below.
CCC will only be able to incorporate 5-10 SI student this semester, so please only apply for this opportunity if you're very serious about doing it. Please submit your Application and Resume to Peter Keller-Transburg (peterkt@umich.edu or 406 West Hall) by Wed., January 12th. I will forward all SI applications to the CCC Board in one group.
Note: You may choose/rank among all of the nonprofits listed on the CCC website, but the Home of New Vision project deals with redesigning their website/marketing, so they're hoping to place at least one SI student with such skills/interests on that project.
Thanks!!
Peter Keller-Transburg

Subject: Community Consulting Club Wants You!
Are you interested in:
Consulting? Nonprofits? Marketing?
Organizational Change? Entrepreneurship?
Finance? Strategy? Business????
The Community Consulting Club invites students of all backgrounds and experiences to participate in real-life consulting projects with local nonprofit companies. The CCC invites students to put their business skills to work, even if you don't have a lot of prior consulting knowledge. We provide Ross Business School students with practical consulting experience in a real world client situation. Mixed project teams of BBA and MBA students are limited to 4-6 members to ensure a realistic and effective experience. Projects begin in January and end in April. Expected time commitment is approximately 2 to 5 hours per week.
This year we have an amazing list of nonprofits that we will be working with. The list includes:
Center for the Childbearing Year
Habitat for Humanity - Harbor
Home of New Vision
Make-A-Wish Foundation of Michigan
University of Michigan Hillel
Warren/Conner Development Coalition
Washtenaw Housing Alliance
Youth Empowerment Project
To become a CCC member and work on a CCC project for the winter term, please visit our website (www.bus.umich.edu/clubs/ccc) and fill out an application under the "Projects" section. This application is simply used to determine which projects you would most want to work on and what appropriate background you may have that would be particularly useful. Also, the application asks if you would like to take on additional responsibility as a Team Lead. Please see the application for a description of the Team Lead responsibilities.
There are no membership dues. You are simply asked to actively participate as a team member and provide the client with a high quality product while receiving real-life experience. If you are unsure if you want to commit, we ask that you do not submit an application. It is difficult to continue a project if team members drop out.
Mark Your Calendar:
