Tips for Posting to the CIC Website

Here are tips for posting content on the CIC website so that it is easy to find. All registered users have permission to:


Create a blog entry

Use your blog to share a variety of CIC resources - social outings, project ideas, reflections on speakers or articles, etc.

  • Login
  • Under post content, select Blog entry
  • You can view your completed entry by clicking on Blog in the header.

Post community news to the front page

This is for items that you want to widely announce, such as a speaker, a conference, or an idea for a project.

  • Login
  • Under post content, select Feature Item

Post seminar news to the front page

This is for items related to the CIC seminar, such as information about speaker or additional resources about a presentation topic.

  • Login
  • Under post content, select Seminar.

Post meeting minutes

  • Login
  • Under post content, select Blog entry
  • In the topics (tags) field, enter Official Minutes
  • Add additional appropriate tags for the post (e.g. semester)
  • Complete the form
  • You can view your completed entry from the header navigation bar: Events -> Planning Meetings -> Minutes.

Share a job or internship posting

There are two ways.

Method 1: 

  • Login
  • Under post content, select Internships & Jobs
  • Complete the form
  • You can view your completed entry from the header navigation bar: Community-> Internships & Jobs.
Method 2:
  • Login
  • Under post content, select Blog entry
  • In the topics (tags) field, enter jobs
  • Add additional appropriate tags for the post
  • Complete the form
  • You can view your completed entry from the header navigation bar: Popular Topics -> Jobs.

Share an academic or scholarly resource

We're experimenting with the MLibrary MTagger application to try to build a bibliography of reports, articles, organizations related to community informatics.
  • Login to MTagger (you'll need a unique name or a friend account)
  • Drag the "Tag from any webpage" graphic to the Bookmarks menu in your browser
  • Go to the website you'd like to tag
  • Select MTag This Page
  • Add CIC as a tag
  • Add additional appropriate tags for the item
  • Click Done
  • You can view the CIC tagged items from header navigation bar: Community ->Social Bookmarking.
