Speakers
During the course of the school year, CiC asks various academics, experts, and professionals to share with students the knowledge and experience they have in a particular aspect of the community informatics field. We draw speakers from the both the academic and professional realms, which allows us to explore theoretical and practical applications. Speakers will often ask attendees to read short “think pieces” before an event, as it provides participants with a common base knowledge and aids significantly in discussion. These speaking engagements are quite popular among students, as it provides participants with the opportunity to engage with experts while also exploring current themes and issues in the field.
Here is the website that Dan Atkins shared during the CIC seminar today: http://web.me.com/deatkins/CIC/Welcome.html. It contains a tentative schedule for the seminar (including speakers), a form to suggest guest speakers for the seminar, and Dan's blog with relevant information about CIC.
