The Bus Project is a Portland, OR based group that works to:
1. Register Voters
2. Push progressive issues
3. Support progressive candidates.
In
the past instead of preaching to the choir in Portland they head out on
a bus to the areas of the state that aren't exactly strongholds for
progressive issues and push an agenda/candidate there. Their founder
went to high school with me and if he didn't haze you while you were on
the freshman track team I imagine he'd be charming. He was one of the
speakers at the training institute that Pete and I attended over the
summer and this program might be a good fit for a CIC student who is
looking for a summer internship. Do lots of homework to make sure the
it's a good fit because the stipend is low (housing in Portland and
$1000) and depending on the activities it might not fully qualify for
PEP if you need that. I do know that people in the group have a lot of
fun and you will have some interesting experiences in a beautiful part
of the country.
