The basis on which Quest is formed and seeks to keep itself alive is the strength of partnerships and the notion that we can bring about systemic change only through harnessing separate efforts, find common interests and grounds for different partners to work together. We currently work with 10 partners and are actively looking to engage with more organizations working in these areas of development. As part of its future vision, QUEST is planning to build a Knowledge Portal, which will cater to the various needs of project implementers, private companies, government officials, NGOs, teachers, students and unemployed youth in the sectors of ICTs, Education and Skills Training. The Knowledge Portal project is one of several concurrent processes that QUEST has envisioned, the others being: Engaging in the Education Policy Arena; Conducting Training/Workshops; and Setting up a Education Incubator where innovative work in the ICTs, education and skills training will be carried out. About the Position The QUEST Alliance’s Research Associate will work closely with the Technical Director and program staff researching a range of programs and issues relating to technology in education & employability. o Policy solutions that aim to standardize quality of e-content o Economics of education and school finance o Allocation of funds for educational technology o Teaching and Learning in a technology-based environment o Impact analysis of educational technology initiatives on employability o Demographic, socio-economic analysis of background, trend and potential for technology in education & employability Primary Responsibilities Coordinate field and desk research on programs and issues related to technology in education and employability; • Strategize and implement structured collection, compilation and storage of program information from the field • Assist the Technical Director in designing research methodologies and tools • Spearhead research in various dimensions of technology in education and employability programs , including policies • Design and establish systems to track education and employability news developments daily that informs practice regularly • Draft reports summarizing issues, policies, initiatives and new academic articles; • Produce regular reports on educational technology sectors, trends and analysis for the larger community and QUEST partners • Manage web-based Knowledge Management tools • Assist the team in organizing workshops, meetings and symposiums as required • Survey, synthesize, and analyze existing field research, including academic research in the area of technology in education and employability; write draft analysis reports Apart from the broad areas of involvement articulated here, the Research Associate will perform small amounts of administrative tasks, when required. This is an eight month position with the opportunity to grow into a full-time position at the conclusion of the Research Associate’s term. Qualifications Ideal candidate will have the following qualifications: o 2-5 years experience in educational research organization o A graduate degree (Master’s or PhD) in education or social science o Strong research skills: o Qualitative and quantitative research o Knowledge and experience in use of computer-based data analysis packages preferred o Ability to draft compelling reports grounded in data o Manage diverse data sources o Organizational skills including attention to detail; o Candidate should be flexible, self-motivated, enthusiastic, and an energetic team player o Knowledge of issues in education quality and the social development sector in India o Ability to observe keenly and draw actionable insights from diverse data sources o Fluency in spoken and written English, comfortable in at least one Indian regional language, in addition to Hindi o Proficient in MS Office tools, and Internet technologies Location: Bangalore Remuneration: This will be in line with the best in Industry but based on the skills and competencies of the candidate.
