IDRC Telecentre.org internships (Canadians and developing country nationals only)

Hi all - Please find below information re: 4-12 month paid internships with Telecentre.org at the International Development Research Centre in Ottawa, Canada. Under the terms of IDRC's charter and funding priorities, these are open to NATIONALS OF DEVELOPING COUNTRIES (OR CANADIANS) ONLY (dual citizens would also be eligible). Note also that the posted start date of January 2007 is negotiable, and interested SI candidates could almost certainly negotiate a May start date to coincide with the Michigan summer break.

Our speaker for the Saturday event, Michigan CIC's annual reunion, has now been confirmed for 1 pm. You and any of your students who might be arriving in town early are welcome to attend. Richard Fuchs of the International Development Research Centre in Ottawa will talk on "The End of the World As we Know it?: ICTs and Development into the Future." Also joining us will be Mark Surman, Managing Director of Telecentre.org, the new IDRC / Microsoft / Swiss Dev Agency collaboration.

Towards the creation of Rwanda Telecentre Network

To: ugabytes@ugabytes.org Subject: Re: [UgaBYTES] Towards the creation of Rwanda Telecentre Network, Dear friends in Telecentre movement, I want just to let you know that we currently in the process of creating a National Telecentre Network called Rwanda Telecentre Network(RTN).This innitiative is a result of current govenment policy to promote rural ICT in Rwanda by establishing community information Centers in rural areas.It is expected taht within 3 month 30 Telecentres will be established in rural cities.This inniative of Rwanda Telecentre Network is headed by Barera Paul,manager of Nyamata Telecentre who is acting as country coordinator of the project, and NDIRIMA Falcon Godwin,marketing manager at TECELKA Communication services.The iiniative is also supported by Ugabytes Rwanda Information and technology Authority(RITA).We hope that as we move on we will have intrested people and organisatios to support our innitiative.
