I posted prior but it somehow didn't save -- now formating is lost :( I am struggling through performing an assessment of organizational knowledge for my organization. This document will be the basis for both our knowledge management and IT strategies. I’ve just finished a basic outline. Since you all have the luxury of being surrounded with theory and professors and each other to think about information issues, maybe you will have insight that I am missing. Below is a high level outline that I’ve put together – are there things missing? Does it follow a logical sequence?

We're starting a new section of the website on "case consults". The idea is to have descriptions of interesting descriptions of issues people are dealing with, so that others can offer suggestions or encouragement. Liz Keith will be serving as content manager for this area.
If you have something to post, please make a blog entry and under Topics: include "Case consult". If you have an idea for a good case consult, and aren't up to posting your self, please contact Liz Keith, elizk at umich.edu.
Liz Keith and I have prepared a template for conducting alumni interviews. Please see the attached document.
Note that the interview may lead to the creation not only of an alumni profile but also of a "case consult" writeup.
As a brief intro, I've been working on a project to develop a system to help manage food aid. As 70%+ of our programs involve food aid, it is a big issue and currently there isn't a system that wholistically deals with managing food aid informtation. So -- armed with good commentary from here and elsewhere, I pushed forward on the design. The accepted iteration is a combination of contact management, help desk and inventory / accounting functions that allows us to receive food, distribute it to centers and follow centers as they distribute to beneficiaries.
As a brief introduction, I graduated in 2004 and was a very active member of the CIC. Since August, I have been in Benin, West Africa, working with Catholic Relief Services as an international development fellow. The work thus far has been eye-opening and overall a great experience for me even though I have found it incredibly frustrating.
To the project at hand. I was in Ann Arbor for Chrismas and had the opportunity to visit with professor Resnick. We were discussing a number of things including my current work and the CIC website. It came to mind that I might be able to use the site to get some feedback on my current project.
