CIC Seminar - Kevin Thompson (IBM)

Kevin Thompson (IBM) Corporate Citizenship: What is it and does it matter? Corporations are under increasing pressure from shareholders, employees, communities, governments and activists to incorporate social issues in corporate strategy. Globalization and the failure of governments to meet society’s basic needs are creating increasing expectations of the business community. Simultaneously, corporate scandals such as Enron and WorldCom are impacting the public’s confidence in the business community. How should corporations respond? Is this just a fad? The discussion will cover these issues and focus on what IBM is doing in the areas of corporate citizenship and social responsibility.
